Encentrum hofsteini De Beauchamp, 1913
Encentrum hoftsteini: because of the long foot the habitus/ outer shape this dicranophorid species resembles the habitus of some species of the genus Proales, like for example Proales theodora or Proales reinhardti, but in contrast to those E. hofsteini has no eyespot. In contrast to many other Encentrum-species the dorsal antenna is very pronounced. (1)

Encentrum hoftsteini: anterior part, lateral view. The arrow points to the retrocerebral sac, which is absent in the closely related Encentrum grande. Arrowhead: dorsal antenna.

Encentrum hoftsteini: Only by comparison of the trophi the species ID becomes evident: in contrast to (for example) Proales theodora (with malleate trophi) this species has forcipate trophi (left image). Right image: incus (1)
