Cephalodella ventripes DIXON-NUTALL 1901
Cephalodella ventripes, lateral view. A species with two cerebral eyespots; the dorsal lorica may protrude beyond the ventrally orientated foot. This specimen is carrying an amictic egg. (4)

Cephalodella ventripes; from this image of a specimen which is compressed for trophi analysis it becomes evident that there are two cerebral eyespots. (4)

Cephalodella ventripes; virgate trophi, dorsoventral view, trophi type A. (4)

Cephalodella ventripes, lateral view. A species with a cerebral eyespot, the dorsal lorica may protrude beyond the ventrally orientated foot. The mouth has some "tweezer"-like structures for picking up small alge (arrowheads).

Cephalodella ventripes, dorsal view, between some diatoms. The cerebral eyespot is a transversal line. The groove between the plates is clearly visible on the distal part of the lorica in this focal plane.

Cephalodella ventripes, trophi Type A in lateral view.

Cephalodella ventripes, another specimen from (2), lateral view.

Cephalodella ventripes, same specimen as above from (2), trophi type A.

Cephalodella ventripes, specimen from (3), lateral view.

Cephalodella ventripes, specimen from (6), macerated with SDS, dorsoventral view, focus plane on the dorsal lorica. The arrow marks the opening of the dorsal antenna, while the arrowheads mark the openings of the lateral antennas.

Cephalodella ventripes, specimen from (7).
