Stylochaeta scirtetica Brunson 1950
Stylochaeta scirtetica; very similar to Stylochaeta fusiformis, but S. scirtetica has some some special scutiform spines at the area of the anterior bundle of long spines (arrowhead). Also visible are the two conspicuous setolae at the front of the head.
Stylochaeta scirtetica; beneath the special scutiform scales are some conspicuous muscles (arrowheads).
Stylochaeta scirtetica; focus plane on the ventral locomotary cilia which are arranged in bundles. Aside from three pairs of bundles of long spines there is a variable number (up to six) of short spines. The focus plane in this image also shows the last pair of short spines with only one tip.
